RF reference distribution system for the J-PARC linac

Kobayashi, Tetsuya; Chishiro, Etsuji; Anami, Shozo*; Yamaguchi, Seiya*; Michizono, Shinichiro*

Proceedings of 28th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.366 - 368, 2003/08

For the J-PARC linac, a 12-MHz RF reference is distributed to 60 low-level RF control systems of klystron stations through optical links. The error of the accelerating field must be within +/- 1 degree in phase and +/ 1% in amplitude. Thus, a very high phase stability (within +/- 0.3 degree in phase) is required to the reference distribution system. New optimized optical components for this linac were developed and the performance of them was tested. The results will be reported. In adition, the timing control signal distribution system for the linac will be illustlated.

Sakaki, Hironao; Kato, Yuko*; Kawamura, Naoki*; Miyamoto, Koji*; Nakamura, Takeshi*

Proceedings of 28th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.96 - 98, 2003/08

The huge proton accelerator facilities (J-PARC) have constructed in the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute Tokai laboratory. Here, even for only one beam operation error, there is a possibility with making to the radiation and destruction to the accelerator equipments. Then, all beams are observed in Linac, and the system to which the cause of the trouble occurrence is investigated at once is aspired after. This time, it was possible to become a strong tool in not only J-PARC but also large-scale accelerator facilities from based on such a background, and the watching device which had a new function was developed.

Beam monitor for J-PARC linac accelerator

Tomisawa, Tetsuo; Kishiro, Junichi; Igarashi, Zenei*; Lee, S.*; Hiroki, Fumio

Proceedings of 28th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.428 - 430, 2003/08

It is an important factor whether to have a beam loss held how, and the part of the beam diagnosis is important with the accurate beam transport, the occurrence of the high quality beam to accelerate a high intensity proton beam to handle with J-PARC linac accelerator safely. It responds to the purpose, and the beam monitor used for this beam diagnosis has it variously. There are an electric current monitor, a phase monitor, a beam position monitor, a profile monitor, a beam size monitor, a screen monitor, a beam loss monitor, and so on. Report it about these beam monitors in the present condition.

Comparison between the experimental results and simulations of 30mA-RFQ for J-PARC

Kondo, Yasuhiro; Ueno, Akira*; Ikegami, Masanori*; Ikegami, Kiyoshi*

Proceedings of 28th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.69 - 71, 2003/08

A 3.115m long, 324MHz, 3MeV radio-frequency quadrupole (RFQ) linac is used as the first RF accelerator of the J-PARC linac. We have performed RFQ simulations to provide a particle distribution for an end-to-end (from the RFQ entrance to the injection point of the rapid cycling synchrotron (RCS)) simulation of the J-PARC linac. Two simulation codes, PARMTEQM and TOUTATIS are used for the RFQ simulations. The simulated emittances show good agreements with the ones measured at the exit of the medium energy beam transport (MEBT).
